No647 10647:
C
GOVERNMENT HOUSE,
31
HONGKONG. 17th December, 1930.
53461/168
My Lord,
I have the honour to request Your
Lordship's consent to a grant to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs Incorporated, which will apply the
revenue derived from it to charitable objects, of
Hunghom Inland Lot 168, together with the Kwun Yam
Temple standing on it.
2.
Under the Chinese Temples Ordinance,
No.7 of 1928, the persons controlling such a temple
could be called on to transfer it to the Secretary for
Chinese Affairs Incorporated. In this case, however,
as none of the lessees of the lot are now alive, no
one can be found to give a good surrender.
3.
A first step has been taken by re-entry
on the land (Gazette of 8th August, 1930) on the ground of non-payment of Crown Rent; and the lot with the building thereon has reverted to the Crown, while the temple is actually administered by the Chinese
Temples Committee. Your Lordship's sanction is now requested for the issue of a new lease of the ground to the Secretary for Chinese Affairs Incorporated at
a nominal rent, by which means the position will be
regularised.
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LORD PASSFIELD,
&C.,
&C.,
&c.
